I want to tell you a bit about the Special Olympics. I play football for Porters Soccability every week and players are selected to play in Special Olympics. I play in various positions such as defense, midfield and occasionally up front.
In 2018, I was chosen to play football for the Eastern Region at Special Olympics in Sterling, Scotland. We ended up winning a gold medal and I was very proud of our team.
In 2021, the Special Olympics was supposed to take place in Liverpool but was sadly cancelled due to Covid-19. I am happy that I have been selected to play in the next Special Olympics but I am not sure when this is happening yet.
In between Special Olympics there are qualifying events to attend. In December, we attended an event sponsored by Hasbro. It was great fun and we got to lay with Hasbro toys such as Connect 4. They even gave us a gift bag filled with toys
at the end!
Last month we went to an event in London where we played football and made friends with players from other teams. This is the best part of playing football for a club and playing in the Special Olympics – you have a lot of fun and make new friends as you compete against other teams.
